Indonesian Word Order

Frankly speaking, i can say that Indonesian is one of the most flexible language of all-time. There is no fixed and certain rule regarding Indonesian's word order in a sentence.

Indonesian language has pure head initial sentence. It means that what pops up first in the speaker's mind, that precedes or comes before other words. What the speaker think that it's important will precede other words. That's what make Indonesian language look so easy to learn. ^_^

It's just the same way like english, that's why many people that are keen to english, usually find themselves really easy to master Indonesian language.

Indonesian Word Order

S + P + O + A

Subject + Predicate + Object + Adverb

Saya membeli buku di toko pada siang hari

That's the normal and correct sentence. But in daily usage, that will become slightly changed because of the culture and everyday's practice. And it's still mostly understandable.

Frequently, the predicate will precede the subject and the object. In other time, often the object itself precedes the subject like this ones :

pergi, aku ke sana
mau, makan aku
pingin beli, aku itu

Indonesian adverb is another flexible thing in such a sentence. It can be placed almost everywhere in a sentence, for example :

Aku sekarang pergi ke sekolah
Kemarin aku pergi ke pasar
Kamu pergi ke toko buku tadi

So, Indonesian language is overly tolerable language and well-known to be the most flexible language on earth.
